National Group Director, Jason Smith, founded Back In Motion (BIM) physiotherapy in 2000 as a small in-home practice,
using a single-car garage as his consulting room. The BIM Health Group has since expanded exponentially, to become Australia’s largest physiotherapy franchise, with more than 50 locations and over 300 employees across three states – Victoria, South Australia and Queensland.

With physiotherapy, clinical Pilates, massage and personal training as our core services, BIM also offers an extensive range of complementary health services such as dry needling, hydrotherapy, Gaitscan, Whole Body Vibration Therapy (WBVT), and women’s health. It is part of the BIM belief that holistic interventions within treatment programs are critical to the achievement of long-term results and wellbeing to people of all ages. From exercise and injury prevention, to pre and postnatal exercise, incontinence and even school bag fitting, BIM actively seeks opportunities to share its wealth of knowledge on physical health to improve the general health and wellbeing of the community.

By seeking to positively influence the lives of those less fortunate, BIM is dedicated to providing resources, services and financial support to various charities, welfare organisations, church-works, community groups and medical programs in developing countries.

Back In Motion established the SOS (Success or Significance) Foundation in 2008 – a not-for-profit public benevolent institution dedicated to improving the health of Australian's living in poverty. The SOS Foundation is funded by a percentage of the BIM Health Group commercial profits and is designed to use the ‘successes’ of the BIM Health Group to assist Australians in need.

BIM is also the major supporter of the Southern Cross Kids Camp (SCKC) – a charity designed to create happy memories for children throughout Australia and New Zealand who are, or have been, victims of abuse, neglect, or abandonment.

BIM provides funding and administrative support to these life-changing camps, and has donated and fitted out a national premises to house the SCKC charity.

Some of the community activities, fundraisers and sporting events that BIM has participated in, include the Leukaemia Foundation World’s Greatest Shave, Bush fire relief, Oxfam Trailwalker, The Age Run Melbourne, the Australian Corporate Games, and Ozanam House – part of the St. Vincent De Paul Society that provides services to homeless and marginalised Melbournians.

BIM is a multi award-winning company. It has won the Franchise Council of Australia’s 2008 Emerging Franchise System of the Year, as part of the MYOB Excellence in Franchising Awards as well as the 2009 Award for Social Responsibility.

Additionally, for five years running BIM has been recognised as being one of the top 10 fastest growing franchises in Australia for 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 by Business Review Weekly (BRW) Magazine, and it continues to expand its services and practices around Australia. BIM franchises have also clinched prestigious business awards. Notably, the BIM Health Group in Wantirna South, Bayswater and Epping in Melbourne, secured top honours as Business of the Year in the Leader Business Achiever Awards. Further BIM Mermaid Waters has won the 2011 Gold Coast Business Excellence Award.
