Back In Motion Mitcham provides leading Physiotherapy, Massage, Pilates, Personal Training and related health services to Mitcham and surrounding suburbs.

Back in Motion Mitcham is focused on providing a holistic approach to well being. Our objective is to deliver Results 4 Life through addressing the underlying cause of a problem, not just its symptoms.

Back in Motion Mitcham is a new, purpose-built physiotherapy facility. The practice features six professionally finished consultation rooms and a spacious studio for rehab, personal training, Pilates and clinical Pilates.

Our skilled physiotherapists specialise in management of sports and spinal injuries, as well as women's health. Practitioners pride themselves on being at the forefront of the latest research; their treatments and rehabilitation therapies are delivered in accordance with current evidence-based protocols. Our clinical expertise, coupled with our friendly practice staff, promise to give you a wonderful Back in Motion experience.

Classes

Muscles in Motion (pilates)

Duration: 60mins
Max 8 Participants
An intensive Pilates workout program tailored to help you achieve your goals by using Pilates equipment such as the Reformer, as well as incorporating floor work into the session. The class is a small group consisting of no more than 8, ensuring constant supervision and guidance from your Physiotherapist. To start your Pilates routine, please contact our clinic to arrange a pre-class free assessment.

Semi Private Pilates

Duration: 40 minutes
Max 2-4 Participants
An intensive Pilates workout program tailored to help you achieve your goals by using Pilates equipment such as the Reformer, as well as incorporating floor work into the session. The class is a small group consisting of no more than 4, ensuring constant supervision and guidance from your Physiotherapist. Mums in Motion

Duration: 40 minutes
Max 2-4 Participants
Free assessment and introductory Class
For pregnant ladies on the go! This class involves Pilates and Cardio exercises aimed to maintain and improve aerobic fitness and strengthen muscle groups affected by pregnancy, such as the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles. They also include education on such things as back care and posture

Mums and Bubs

Duration: 40 minutes
Max 2-4 Participants
Free assessment and introductory Class
For new mums wanting to get back into Pilates and Fitness. Exercise safely after birth in a Physiotherapy run class that incorporates your baby! In addition to improving generalized strength and flexibility, core stability, pelvic floor tone and fitness, exercising with your baby can be a bonding experience and provides movement experience that helps your baby’s development. It’s also a great way to meet new mums and get physiotherapy advice on common post-natal problems and lifting techniques.

Aquatic Physiotherapy (Hydrotherapy)

Duration: 30-50mins
Max 8 Participants
This class utilises the properties of water to assist in your recovery via an individually tailored exercise program designed by your Back in Motion Physiotherapist. All Aquatic Physiotherapy classes comprise both of group and individual work, with constant supervision from your Physiotherapist.   • Shivam Prakash - Practice Director

    Shivam Prakash - Practice Director

    Shiv studied Physiotherapy at Melbourne University and has developed a keen interest in Spinal Physiotherapy, Sports Physiotherapy and Chronic Pain Management. Shiv prides himself on keeping up to date with the very latest research and techniques to ensure a consistently high level of patient care. He has completed several additional courses, such as dry needling, gym rehabilitation and Pilates techniques.

    Socially, Shiv is involved in soccer, cricket and Kung Fu. An exercise fanatic, he will also be spotted on the running track or in the gym each day. Shiv has embraced his ‘inner nerd’; he is a movie buff with a love of computer games and reading.

    The best way to understand Shiv’s dedication to Physiotherapy is that he views his work as a lifestyle choice, not a job. He loves meeting new people and helping them achieve their individual goals.

  • Krishna Prakash - Physiotherapist

    Krishna Prakash - Physiotherapist

    Krishna brings to the clinic 7 years of clinical experience having worked in orthopaedics as a senior physiotherapist at Maroondah Hospital, as well as working at sports medicine clinics throughout Melbourne. Having provided services to state representative teams at nationals in Soccer and Hockey, Krishna is also currently working his way through a Masters of Sports Physiotherapy at La Trobe University. He has travelled extensively - working in the UK for 2 years, and utilise various techniques including Dry Needling and Pilates.

    Krishna is a keen soccer player and sports fanatic, he’ll be hoping his Hawks can win him a premiership this year! When he’s not working Krishna will be found watching more sport or working on his house

  • Mary Kristy - Physiotherapist

    Mary Kristy - Physiotherapist

    Mary studied Physiotherapy at the University of Melbourne.  She is passionate about the physiotherapy profession and has a keen interest for the management of women’s health, paediatrics, geriatrics, sports injuries and chronic pain. Mary also strongly believes in empowering the general population with physiotherapy, physical activities and their benefits for life.
    Mary has always loved her sports and in her spare time now she enjoys coaching and playing indoor volleyball, surfing or otherwise volunteers as a physiotherapist in volleyball and gymnastics events around Melbourne. Originally from Mauritius, Mary is a lively and bubbly person who speaks French and likes catching up over coffee in any of the great Melbournian café places. Gotta love Melbourne for its fantastic food and drinks!

  • Loren Hanrahan - Receptionist

    Loren Hanrahan - Receptionist

    Loren began working at Back In Motion Mitcham in November 2011 as a Full time Business trainee. Having started her traineeship in a large corporate company, she is enjoying being amongst a smaller team of lovely people. Loren is also studying a Bachelor of Business Majoring in Human Resources with Griffiths University through distance education.
    In her spare time Loren enjoys playing netball, running, heading to the football to see her beloved Hawks, socialising with friends etc. Loren tries to find any spare moment she can to spend time with her family, especially her niece and two nephews. You’ll always find Loren with a smile on her face and her bubbly personality.

  • Sofi Petropoulos - Receptionist

    Sofi Petropoulos - Receptionist

    Sofi joined the team at Back in Motion Mitcham in 2012 after having her second child. Previously working in Administration in both the public and private sectors, she enjoys greeting clients with her warm and caring nature, and enjoys having a friendly chat. Sofi was also a former patient, and when the opportunity arose to join the team at Mitcham, she put her hand up enthusiastically.

    Outside of work, her interests include photography, reading and spending time outdoors, especially down the beach in summer, with her two very active boys. On top of her bucket list she would love to go travel to the UK, and see her beloved Manchester United win the English Premier league

  • Rebecca Brown - Receptionist

    Rebecca Brown - Receptionist

    Rebecca joined the Back In Motion team in March 2012, working part time as she is also completing a Bachelor of Physiotherapy herself at Monash University. Upon completing her degree Rebecca is interested in developing a career in the field of paediatric Physiotherapy.
    When she is not studying, Rebecca enjoys playing netball, spending time with her friends and family and hopes to pursue a new found love of travel in the future after spending most of her summer travelling around America and loving every minute of it!

  • Tegan Bisset - Receptionist

    Tegan Bisset - Receptionist

    Tegan joined the Back In Motion team after seeing the advertisement on her University website. Tegan is the friendly face you see when you walk in the front door of our clinic. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Physiotherapy with Honours at Monash University. Tegan hopes to become a specialist in Sports physiotherapy and Women’s Health on the completion of her degree. She is currently the Club Trainer at Murrumbeena Junior Football Club.
    In her spare time Tegan likes to play netball, read and when she has the money, she loves to travel! Having just come back from a summer spent in South East Asia she hopes to travel more once her degree is completed. Tegan is very excited to be part of the Back In Motion team and is looking forward to learning about the physiotherapy industry at such a professional and innovative Health Group

  • Nitin Prakash - Administration Assistant

    Nitin Prakash - Administration Assistant

    Nitin is currently a student at Mulluana Secondary College. He is working as an Administration assistant to gain experience of working in the workforce.
    He enjoys playing percussion instrument, playing video games and playing sport. He has been learning Tabla (a traditional Indian Instrument) for 2 and a half years. He enjoys playing this instrument because it is fun and has introduced him to a wider community. His Favourite sports are; soccer, footy, basketball and table tennis.  I play basketball, footy and soccer at school with friends during recess and lunch.  He plays Table tennis with his uncle and has mean topspin.
    He is interested in a medical career in future because; he likes to help people, is good at science and wants to have a good understanding about how the body works
