Classes

Pilates in Motion (PIM)

Duration 50 mins
Pilates in Motion is a mat based pilates class. These classes are designed and run by BIM Physiotherapists with the purpose of providing closely supervised exercises to people who need strength and mobility of their spine. At Back in Motion Northcote our classes work using the principles of pilates and include exercises targetted at core stability, postural correction and spinal mobility. Maximum of 8 participants

Semi-Private Pilates (SPPL)

Duration 40 mins
An intensive Pilates workout program tailored to help you achieve your goals by using Pilates equipment such as the Reformer, Trapeze Table, Pilates Chair and Arc Barrel. The class is a small group consisting of no more than 4, ensuring constant supervision and guidance from your Physiotherapist. To start your Pilates routine, please contact our clinic to arrange a pre-class free assessment.

Mums and Bubs (M&B)

Duration 50 mins
For new mums wanting to get back into Pilates and Fitness. Exercise safely after birth in a Physiotherapy run class that incorporates your baby! In addition to improving generalized strength and flexibility, core stability, pelvic floor tone and fitness, exercising with your baby can be a bonding experience and provides movement experience that helps your baby’s development. It’s also a great way to meet new mums and get physiotherapy advice on common post-natal problems and lifting techniques.

Mums in Motion (MIM)

Duration: 50 mins
A fun and energetic pilates class that gives Mums to be a place to exercise in a safe and secure environment. Run by a fully qualified Physiotherapist, this class involves pilates, pelvic floor and abdominal training and also relaxation and stretching techniques. This class is designed to give expecting mothers a chance to keep exercising right up until the birth in a safe and enjoyable way. Maximum of 6 participants

Aquatic Physiotherapy

(Also known as Hydrotherapy)
Duration 50 minutes
Aquatic physiotherapy uses the properties of water to assist in your recovery via an individually tailored exercise program designed by your Back in Motion Physiotherapist. All Aquatic Physiotherapy classes comprise both of group and individual work, with constant supervision from your Physiotherapist. Re-assessments at regular 6 week intervals will ensure you are continually gaining benefit from your program. For further information, call our clinic to book your free pre-class assessment. These classes are run at TRAC (Thomastown Recreation and Aquatic Centre).

Our Team

  • Rohan Singleton - Practice Director

    Rohan Singleton - Practice Director

    Physiotherapist, Pilates, Dry Needling
    BPhysio (unimelb) APAM MAPPI

    Originally from Canberra, Rohan graduated from Physiotherapy at the University of Melbourne. He has a keen interest in all areas of sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapy and is particularly passionate about the use of Pilates in the clinical setting. Rohan has completed his pilates training through the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institue (APPI) and has gone on to become an APPI course instructor. He also has expertise in the use of dry needling in the management of musculoskeletal injuries.

    Rohan has undertaken further professional development in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of running injuries. In the past he has extensive experience working with football, soccer and gridiron teams.

    Away from physiotherapy, he enjoys spending time on the golf course, playing cricket, running and getting behind the mighty Roo’s!

  • James Wilson - Practice Director

    James Wilson - Practice Director

    Physiotherapist, Pilates

    James was born and raised in Canberra and after studying Human Biology discovered his interest and passion for Physiotherapy. He completed his Masters of Physiotherapy at the University of Canberra and after graduating immediately moved to Melbourne to begin working with Back In Motion Brunswick.

    James has a keen interest in spinal and sports physiotherapy and is very passionate about injury rehabilitation through clinical pilates. James has completed pilates training through the internationally recognised Stott Pilates program.

    James also has an interest in running technique and in particular the transition to minimalist footwear. James has recently completed training in running analysis through world renowned running coach and physiotherapist Blaise Dubois. James has also undertaken additional training for shoulder injuries.

    Aside from physiotherapy James is a keen golfer and is currently undertaking the slightly nerve wracking task of training for Tough Mudder in September. 

  • Esther O'Connor - Clinical Associate (Physiotherapist)

    Esther joins the Northcote team from the Back In Motion Epping clinic. Esther graduated from Otago University in Dunedin, NZ. She began her career working at a Private Practice in NZ where there was a large focus on sporting injuries and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

    In search for a change, Esther moved to Melbourne and found herself at Back In Motion Epping and now is a valued member of Back in Motion Northcote. Esther has a keen interest in musculoskeletal sporting injuries, dry needling and clinical Pilates. Esther is currently completing the Polestar Pilates rehabilitation certificate.

    When away from work, Esther enjoys exploring Melbourne on her bike, baking…and drinking lots of coffee!

  • Jessica Kostos - Clinical Associate (Physiotherapist)

    Jessica Kostos - Clinical Associate (Physiotherapist)

    Jess completed her degree with Honours at The University of Melbourne. She has a keen interest in spinal conditions and sporting injuries, and is passionate about helping people of all ages achieve their optimal physical health and wellbeing. Jess credits her love of musculoskeletal physiotherapy to her experience working with AFL teams in both the VFL and VAFA football leagues over the past 2 years.

    Her clinical approach utilizes the most recent clinical evidence and traditional Physiotherapy along with Clinical Pilates, exercise therapy, and education to treat, manage and prevent the re-occurrence of injuries. She has completed her Matwork Pilates training (level 1-3) through the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute.

    Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, travelling, and keeping fit through running, practicing Clinical Pilates and playing netball.

  • Verity Worley - Practice Manager

    Verity Worley - Practice Manager

    Verity was born and raised in Auckland New Zealand where she studied a Bachelor of Psychology at the University of Auckland.  With her studies complete, itchy feet took her to the other side of the world to live in the United Kingdom and to explore other parts of Europe.  After soaking up all the sights she could in two years Verity decided that Melbourne would be next on her cards. 

    Verity’s passion for Administration and Customer Service lead her to the Back in Motion Northcote team where she now takes on the role as Practice Manager.  When Verity is not at work you can find her hanging out with friends, exploring the many cafés and bars that Melbourne has to offer or keeping fit running around the Tan.

  • Elisa Baxter - Receptionist

    Elisa Baxter - Receptionist

    Is the youngest member of the Back in Motion Family sharing positively, enthusiasm, friendliness and loves to communicate to all the clients who walk in our door. Elisa completed a Certificate III in Childcare Services in 2011 whilst studying year 12 and is currently undertaking her second year of a Nursing Bachelor Degree at Latrobe University, Bundoora.

    Recently going away to Hawaii, Elisa has decided she wants to travel around Europe and America after she finishes her degree. If Elisa’s not at work or studying or dreaming about the world she is exercising at Jetts Gym, hanging out with her friends and watching movies with her partner.

  • Natalie Bellview - Receptionist

    Natalie Bellview - Receptionist

    Natalie is currently nearing the end of her degree at Latrobe University Melbourne. She is studying Bachelor of Social Sciences, majoring in legal studies. Once she finishes she hopes to move onto studying postgraduate law.

    Natalie is currently a part time receptionist at Back in Motion Northcote, and when she is not working she enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, exercising, playing sport as well as enjoying all that the Melbourne has to offer. In her spare time, she enjoys running, and participating in charity fun runs.

    Coming from an Italian and Maltese background, Natalie loves her coffee…especially a latte!!
