No other health service draws out a more emotional response than massage therapy. You’ve possibly had one of those ‘killer’ deep tissue massages that leaves you teary, but feeling a million dollars the day after. Alternatively, you’ve had a soothing relaxation massage that helps you shake off the stresses of your day and takes you to cloud nine. Massages are performed by a Physiotherapist and claimable on your private health insurance. We offer different types of massage, ranging from deep tissue to relaxation. We also complete pregnancy massages for the expectant mother.
MEN'S & WOMEN'S HEALTH/ CONTINENCE PHYSIOTHERAPY
Brooke is our Health Group Specialist in Men's and Women's health; a highly specialised field of Physiotherapy; and as one of very few centres who can offer such a service, we are pleased to be offer this to our patients. With 1 in 3 women who have ever had a baby wetting themselves and around 40% of women living with bladder control problems, Continence Physiotherapy is a great way for these sufferers to regain control of their bladder and their pelvic floor. Whilst it is common, pelvic floor disorders are not normal and are often suffered in silence by many.
Brooke is adept at treating a wide variety of continence and pelvic floor issues for both Men and Women including, but not limited to:
- Bladder/Bowel Stress &/or Urge Incontinence
- Mixed incontinence
- Overactive Bladder
- Pre & Post-operative assessments/management of those undergoing Prostate surgery
- Vaginal/Vulvar Pain/ Vulvodynia
- Pain with intercourse (Dyspareunia)
- Vaginissmus/ Anissmus
- Anal pain
- Defecation difficulties/ Chronic Constipation
Pelvic Floor disorders can be caused by a variety of factors, some of which include:
- Childbirth - particularly longer labours, or above average baby size
- Being overweight
- Chronic constipation
- Persistent heavy lifting/ long history of manual labour
- Chronic cough
- Hormonal changes involved in Menopause
- Getting older
Whilst pelvic floor disorders are common, it is by no means normal to suffer from these and it is important to know that you can do something about it. Extensive research and evidence has proven that pelvic floor exercises should be the first line of therapy offered over and above any other intervention for these conditions. We acknowledge that it can be an awkward or embarassing conversation to have, however our staff are sensitive and understanding of your needs throughout your consultation, so please rest assured you will be taken care of. Make sure you ask for Brooke when you book in for your Continence assessment on 9662 2399.

James Walker – Clinical Services Co-ordinator
James was born and raised in Melbourne and has always had a keen interest in all things sport since a young age. His interest in physio grew from picking up injuries in basketball, cricket, and football. Coming from another Back In Motion practice James has been with the group since 2008 and joined our team at AOC in December 2009. His philosophy of care is aimed at achieving long-term results from the episode of care. James has a keen interest in spinal pain, sports injuries, and managing injuries with Clinical Pilates.

Lachie is the newest member of our team, he was born and raised in the eastern surburbs of Melbourne and has always had a keen interest in sports, health and fitness.
Lachie graduated from La Trobe University, and has experience working as a physio at a local football club in the VAFA league. He also plays social basketball and goes to the gym during the week.
