Pilates in MotionDuration: 50 minutes. A class designed to improve your neck, back and shoulder posture. By performing resistance exercises with Pilates twist using ‘low weight’ and ‘high reps’, this effectively tones your upper and lower body FAST! If your posture needs improving and you want to tone your body up, or you just need to increase your exercise level and feel challenged. Mums n BubsDuration: 40 minutes. For new mums wanting to get back into Pilates and Fitness. Exercise safely after birth in a Physiotherapy run class that incorporates your baby! In addition to improving generalized strength and flexibility, core stability, pelvic floor tone and fitness, exercising with your baby can be a bonding experience and provides movement experience that helps your baby’s development. It’s also a great way to meet new mums and get physiotherapy advice on common post-natal problems and lifting techniques. Semi-private PilatesDuration: 40 minutes An intensive Pilates workout program tailored to help you achieve your goals by using Pilates equipment such as the Reformer as well as incorporating floor work into the session. The class is a small group consisting of no more than 4, ensuring constant supervision and guidance from your Physiotherapist. Aquatic Physiotherapy(Hydrotherapy) Duration: 40 minutes This class utilizes the properties of water to assist in your recovery via an individually tailored exercise program designed by your Back in Motion Physiotherapist. All Aquatic Physiotherapy classes comprise both of group and individual work, with constant supervision from your Physiotherapist. David Spithill - Principal Physiotherapist
David originally headed the team at Back In Motion St Helena since 2008, before joining the practice at Clayton in late 2011 David comes with an extensive knowledge and interest in: - Pilates for rehabilitation and fitness - Musculoskeletal and Sports physiotherapy of the spine, pelvis, knees and shoulders. David has always been involved with sport from local elite junior AFL team The Northern Knights U/18’s Squad in the TAC Cup as their Rehabilitation Coordinator to local amateur sporting clubs in AFL, Rugby Union, La Crosse, Soccer and netball. David is also involved with North East Blaze VNL Netball Club as their game day physiotherapist to their U/19 through to their Championship teams. In his spare time, David enjoys spending time with his family, playing football and watching or being involved in sport.
Ed Clarke - Clinical Services Co-Ordinator (Physiotherapist)
*currently on leave until June to complete his Post Graduate Masters in Western Australia
Ed graduated from the University of London in 2006 and worked in the NHS before moving to the private sector. He has a keen interest in sports injuries and was team physio for the Arsenal Ladies Football (Soccer) Club for over 3 years before moving to Australia. The highlight of his career so far has been being part of the physio team at the London 2012 Olympics, but sitting in the dugout at Wembley and the Emirates stadiums comes a close second.
Karl Meyer- Clinical Associate (Physiotherapist)
Karl graduated from AUT University, New Zealand. He moved to Melbourne to further his knowledge and experience as well as explore everything Melbourne has to offer. He has been involved with multiple sports teams including rugby union, soccer and basketball. He has a strong interest in musculoskeletal and sports injuries. Karl is currently a member of the Musculoskeletal and Sports Groups in the Australian Physiotherapy Association. He has a passion to help clients achieve their desired results as well as helping with furthering client’s health. He is continually developing his professional skill set, adding to his vast array of therapeutic treatment techniques. Outside of work you will find Karl exploring Melbourne, enjoying the company of friends over coffee or food, watching and being involved in sport as well as in the gym.
Rachel Schroder - Clinical Associate (Physiotherapist)
Rachel studied physiotherapy at Charles Sturt University in Albury, and has spent the last 3 years working in a wide range of areas in the country and metropolitan hospital system. She made the big move to Melbourne in 2013, but is still a country girl at heart! She particularly enjoyed working in the maternity and surgical units, orthopaedics, and in chronic disease and pain management. These experiences have equipped Rachel well for her position at Back in Motion.
Rachel is passionate about equipping clients with the skills and knowledge to gain long term improvement in their symptoms.
In her spare time Rachel enjoys watching live music, watching movies and going out for a good cup of coffee.
Rachael Evans - Clinical Associate (Physiotherapist)
Rachael graduated from Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) at Melbourne University in 2010 and has worked in the Aged Care sector and Private Practice since graduation. She has also been involved with sporting teams, mainly AFL and netball both as a student and as a graduate. She has a strong interest in spinal conditions, general musculoskeletal injuries, Clinical Pilates and Hydrotherapy. Rachael is passionate about the promotion of health and wellbeing through exercise in all age groups. She particularly enjoys working with the elderly population to achieve their goals. Rachael continues to participate in professional development programs to further her skill set.
Outside of work you will find Rachael exercising at the gym, socialising with friends, engaging in outdoor pursuits, listening to music or dreaming of more world travel.
She has a keen interest in occupational health and safety and is passionate about workplace injury prevention. management and quick and effective return to work. Rachael splits her time between Back in Motion and a hands-off role as a clinical panelist for an occupational rehabilitation provider. Rachael also teaches Clinical Pilates, Hydrotherapy and attends to aged care facilities.
Annika Morris- Practice Manager
Annika has recently joined the Back in Motion team and is very excited about her new position. After completing her Certificate IV’s in Frontline Management and Business she has discovered an unknown passion for the business industry. On the weekends you’ll see her out walking her gorgeous American Staffy Max, spending time with friends and playing hockey for Doncaster Hockey Club. She has a love of good food and wine as well as being as fit and healthy as possible – all in moderation!
