I’ve got bad posture help!

Do you suffer from headaches? A sore neck or recurring back pain? Aching shoulders or knees? It could be a posture you’re adopting at work that’s causing your discomfort.

There are certain postures that can be harmful to us when they are held frequently for prolonged periods. You can have the best ergonomic set up but still sit poorly and cause ongoing issues for your neck, back and spine. This can be frustrating, reduce your productivity at work and in some cases, cause you night pain which can really affect your sleeping. We talk a lot about the importance of posture, and it's true, it plays an important role in ensuring our ligaments, tendons, muscles and joints are in good positions to function, which is why it's so important to work towards maximising your periods of time in good postures.

The good news is that it’s not something to worry about as it can be fixed and there are many options for improving your posture which can have massive differences to your every day aches and pains. Here at Back in Motion, our Physiotherapists can help identify certain postures that may be causing you pain, provide manual therapy at the joints involved and give you specific exercises to get you back on track, and pain free! In many cases, it's about retraining your muscles to work towards holding you in this improved posture for longer periods of time, stretching tighter structures, providing home exercise solutions or gym based exercises that can be beneficial for a long term resolution. Clinical Exercise is a fantastic mode of exercise for facilitating improved posture, and we promise it's not always about the lycra! Improving your posture is a great way to rid yourself of your recurrent aches and pains and we're here to help.

Don't forget we are offering a free initial assessment for all new injuries, so call the clinic today and book in with one of our expert Physios for some advice on your posture today!
