NDIS and Back in Motion Physiotherapy

The NDIS has given you funds to access Physiotherapy services in relation to your NDIS goals but how do you choose a Physio?

First, it is important for you to know how your NDIS plan is managed;

If you are NDIS/Agency managed then you can only access physiotherapists that are NDIS registered. Always make sure you ask your physio if they are NDIS registered. If they are not then the NDIS will not fund your appointments with them.

If you are Plan managed, then you can access any physiotherapist you like and the invoices for the appointments you attend will be sent to your plan managers for payments.

If you are self-managed, then again you can access any physiotherapist that you like, and the invoices are given to you for payment. You can either ask the physiotherapist that you are seeing to give you one big invoice (for multiple sessions) so that you can put it through your portal and receive the funds into your bank for payment. Or you can pay the invoices up front yourself and then receive reimbursement from the NDIS.

At the end of your plan before your plan review. Your physio will need to write up a report to show what you have been treated for and how the treatments have been going for you. This is so that the NDIS can fund more physiotherapy for you. Without a report The NDIS usually discontinues funding those services as no proof has been shown that the services have been beneficial to you. Ensure you tell your physio this so they can prepare the report in advance for you.

If you are or know someone who is need of a physiotherapist that can support NDIS plan or self-managed clients; we here at Back in Motion Mermaid Beach can help.
