The benefits of stretching for flexibility & fewer injuries

Stretching is one of the most intuitive things we do. However many of us don't do it anywhere near as often as we should.

What are the benefits of stretching?

Stretching all your major muscles groups for as little as five minutes a day will yield a great number of benefits including improved flexibility, less injuries and more.

Back In Motion Founder and Physio outlines the benefits of stretching and his rules for stretching in the video below.

We've partnered with Regal Sleep Solutions because we think we can do a whole lot more for you when we get together and help you with your wellness and fitness goals.

I want to share just a few thoughts with you about stretching. Now, stretching is one of the most intuitive things we could do, from a young baby in a cot who wriggles and rolls around, through to you getting out of the car after a long trip.

Stretching seems natural and yet so many of us don't do it on a regular basis. If you could find time to stretch three to five minutes a day, and try and hit all the major muscle groups in that period, you'll get the benefits of improved flexibility, less injuries, better circulation, and you will feel a whole lot more energised.

The few simple rules are: Don't bounce when you stretch, don't push into pain. And otherwise, don't rush it. Enjoy the little bit of downtime you get during the stretch.

I'm Jason T. Smith, Founder and Group Director of the Back In Motion Health Group and Author of the book, “Get Yourself Back In Motion” and we look forward to helping you achieve your health, wellness and fitness goals.
