Back In Motion National Symposium 2014

On Sunday 26 October, the 2014 Back In Motion National Symposium was held with amazing success! Close to half of our workforce (200 + attendees) were treated to a day filled with incredible keynote presentations from industry leading professionals along with sponsor expos, exciting Group announcements, comedy, physical challenges, gifts and awards.

Strong Man and Women Competition

The day kicked off with comedic entertainment from funny man Ben Price followed by the first Back In Motion Strong Man and Woman Competition. Numerous staff and directors braved the huge crowd to perform as many push ups as they could without stopping. The audience provided motivation and critique on form.

Nick Wigger Director, Back In Motion Bribie Island (Qld) / Back In Motion Como (WA) took out the men’s category completing 74 push ups. While Brooke Williams (pictured above) Director, Back In Motion Melbourne on Collins (Vic) pumped out a total of 56 push ups!

Professional Development Presentations

The group then split in two for clinical and non-clinical professional development sessions for the morning and early afternoon sessions.

Well renowned presenters Jill Cook and Alison Grimaldi were very well received by clinicians in attendance.

Jill Cook presented the topic Thoughtful and Knowledgeable Clinical Decision Making in Tendinopathy while Alison Grimaldi spoke about Gluteal Tendinopathy and Proximal Hamstring Tendinopathy Pathoaetiology, Diagnosis and Management.

National Symposium Alison Grimaldi

Both Jill and Alison (pictured above) reinforced that thorough assessment and education in the first consults with the client were vital to recovery and that education and exercise should be considered treatment.

Non-clinical staff and several directors heard from Paul Wright who spoke about client attraction, retention and the supreme value of marketing and sales from the front desk. Paul implored attendees to remember that every single staff member plays a role in improving client retention and to be the most respected/trusted/valued business, you need to actually be the most respectful/trusted/valued – something which rings true through Back In Motion’s vision.

Following Paul’s presentation, staff attended three roundtable sessions hosted by National Support Office staff and representatives from the network. During these secession, support staff had the opportunity to share their own experiences and insights, asking questions of others and network with peers across the Group and National Support Office.
